Overview of Xiaoshan City

Xiaoshan City, is located on the southeast coast of China, it covers an area of 1492 square kilometers, with a population of 1.2 million. Xiaoshan's terrain is mainly flat plain, and has comfortable four-season climate. Xiaoshan has a number of world class hotels, the Xiaoshan Hotel, Golden Horse Hotel and International Hotel are comparable to 4 & 5 star hotels found in any international city.

Xiaoshan's Economy

Xiaoshan is one of the top ten cities in China in terms of family annual earnings and one of the 100 most developed cities in China. Export income was 0.7 billion US Dollars in 1997. Products were exported to more than 100 countries and regions. Products include textile, machinery, building material, medical chemistry, electrical products, and agricultural products. There are 511 joint ventures in the city with a total investment of 1.62 billion US Dollars, foreign investment in agreement reaches 0.94 billion US dollars.

Transportation and Communication

Xiaoshan has convenient transportation by land, rivers and air. Xiaoshan is located at the merger of the Younhe River, Qiantang River, Fuchun River and Puyang River. The Zhejiang-Jiangxi railway and Xiaoshan-Ningbo railway pass through the city. By highway it is a 3-hour drive from Xiaoshan to Shanghai, and 2 hours from Xiaoshan to the Ningbo port. Hangzhou International Airport is located just 30 minutes from Xiaoshan city center. Hangzhou is in the process of building a new international airport on an adjacent site.

Work Force and Educational Facilities

Xiaoshan has more than 28,200 technicians including 5,570 advanced technicians. Colleges and professional schools offer many different kinds of training courses, making it easy to train personnel for special requirements.
